The Groningen protocol

Today I was in a discussion with a young woman who had been born with cerebral palsy and didn't move for almost two weeks after birth. According to the Groningen protocol, had she been born in Holland, she would have been a prime candidate for euthanasia. Brain Shavings has put together an excellent information page on the protocol, which is a perilous step down a slippery slope. We need to be aware what is happening in Europe in these matters, because it is often not long before the influence of Europe's thinking is felt here. Witness a recent Supreme Court decision which quoted European thinking as a basis for establishing a judicial precedent.
